The book is altered as a surface and becomes other. These works deal with the found object as a potential surface for spatial relationships to occur. The idea of collage as a balancing act - an act of layering until a ‘rightness’, solving spatial problems and creating a balance of elements within a contained space. In-between spaces reveal slices of activity beneath the surface. Pentimenti of coloured planes activate the initial stillness of the work and the edges display their making.
