My painted paper panels are quiet sculptures that serve as punctuations, commas, and markers in space – a gesture paused for closer observation. These works succeeded my book cover works, taking spatial propositions off the surface of the book and onto the wooden panels allowing it to read as purely spatial without time, history and nostalgia tied up in the aesthetics. Themes of access and denial, characterised by a formal tightness are of interest to me - interstitial spaces…the edge of things, in-between, gaps and spaces.
